A few words about Timber Ridge
Timber Ridge is an outdoor recreational area for the whole family. Timber Ridge is a membership-based area with activities that include dirt bike trails, ATV and UTV trails, as well as areas to ride Jeeps, 4 x 4’s and dune buggies. There are four ponds to fish (State of Iowa Fishing Permit required) and a sandy swim beach area with picnic shelter. Hiking on nature trails is a past-time enjoyed by its members as well. Members are allowed to camp or many have constructed cabins or brought campers or trailers to their sites. Current membership is approximately 250 with a waiting list.
Organized events include a meal at the Timber Ridge Shelter House. There is a poker run held prior to the meal. These events are held on the three major summer holidays, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. In addition, in September there is a Soup and Chili Dinner held at the Timber Ridge Shelter House with poker run held prior to the meal. The Timber Ridge Shelter House is available to rent to members or non-members. See events page for contact information.
Many changes have occurred in Timber Ridge’s history over the years such as a winery that produced several wines from fruits grown on Timber Ridge land; a restaurant and bar; musical concerts that have highlighted the likes of Hank Williams, Jr., Vixen, Marvin Rainwater, and Gene Mills to name a few. There was a fully functioning sawmill that used the timber from the ranch. Also a sporting clay range was part of Timber Ridge’s past.
Daughter Annette along with sons Steve, Brian and Troy helped Richard and LaDonna develop Timber Ridge Ranch into what it is today. This history was put to paper by daughter Annette. The full story is on display at the Lodge.
